Annual Ofsted report, National tutoring programme, and tailored 1:1 tuition

The last year and half has been a whirlwind of emotions and difficulties, particularly for children and young people in education. The lockdowns, on-off school closures and lack of social interactions have affected children disproportionately, and the Annual Ofsted Report found that nearly all children have felt the effects of the restrictions. We are yet to discover the long term effects of the pandemic, or how young people in education will fare when formal examinations return this academic year. It is therefore crucial that we provide all the necessary tools and tuition for children to fulfill their potential.

From the start of the pandemic, the lockdown resulted in a complete loss of routine for children, leading to increased levels of anxiety and mental health conditions when they had to return to formal education. In order to help students catch up, the report states that we should prioritise high quality, structured face-to-face tuition, daily routines that will help maintain children's physical and mental health and those educational improvements that were underway before the pandemic need to continue.  With the new covid Omicron variant, further school closures and restrictions within the public, we are at risk of seeing more students fall behind academically and suffer mental consequences due to the disruption to their routines. At the St Albans tuition Centre, we are doing whatever we can to help students catch up with their learning and fulfil their potential. This year has allowed us to help many young people through the world of homeschooling. Our tailored, 1:1 homeschooling programme has allowed students who suffered the effects of covid to flourish, giving them their confidence back, as well as fall back into a routine and enjoy learning once more.

Alongside a rise in homeschooling, the pandemic has brought about a tuition programme to subsidise the loss of education, called The National Tutoring Programme, for those students who were worse affected by the restrictions. It was designed to reach 524000 students, but has failed to do so, latest reports cite. It has been reported that the programme has so far only extended tuition services to about 10% of its target.

We appreciate that tuition can be considered an unattainable luxury for many families and it is our mission to reach as many students as possible. We therefore have available scholarship places for students who need it the most.

If you would like any more information regarding the scholarship, any tuition needs, give our friendly team a call on 01727260239.
